ALBANY, NY (January 2, 2012) — A new state-of-the-art wagering facility and sports bar are set to open January 1 at 711 Central Avenue. The newly constructed Clubhouse Race Book and 711 Sports Grill will replace the Albany Teletheater and nightclub complex that were previously at the same address.
“With nearly 30,000 square feet of racing and sports action in a Vegas-style atmosphere, the Clubhouse Race Book will be a dream come true for horse players and sports fans,” said John Signor, President and CEO of Capital OTB. “The Capital OTB Board of Directors and staff are proud to invite everyone to ring in the New Year by joining us for our opening this Sunday at 11 a.m.”
The 25,000 square-foot Clubhouse Race Book – operated by Capital OTB – offers 240 flat screen televisions and two massive 167-inch projection screens allowing racing and sports fans to view live racing and sporting events like never before. Horseplayers will also find 140 private betting carrels, each equipped with a 22-inch flat screen TV, state-of-the-art wagering terminals. The entire facility is WiFi ready allowing players to wager from their own lap top or mobile device if they prefer.
The facility features a one-of-a-kind “Triple Crown Walk of Fame,” which honors the eleven winners of thoroughbred racing’s famed series of major stakes races by permanently displaying their photo and career record in the floor of the main entrance.
The 711 Sports Grill is a full-service restaurant—managed by BBL Hospitality— within the Clubhouse Race Book. The restaurant features casual American fare, and a horse racing-themed menu designed by executive chef John Dillon. The 3,500 square-foot restaurant is adorned with sports photographs and racing memorabilia. Eighteen high-definition big-screen TVs line the walls and bar. Guests can access the sports grill through the betting area, or an outside entrance. Food may be ordered in the race book area as well as the main dining room.
“We’re very excited about this new venture, and we are proud to partner with the Clubhouse Race Book for this unique, one-of-a kind facility.” said Mike Derway, manager of the 711 Sports Grill.
Both the Clubhouse Race Book and the 711 Sports Grill will be open 7 days a week. Doors open at 11 a.m. each day.
