ALBANY, NY (April 2, 2013) – BBL Hospitality donated truckloads of their gently used furniture to Soldier On’s new Albany County Veterans Resource Center. Located at 55 Heritage Lane in Colonie, the center provides transitional housing and support services to local veterans.
“Part of our mission is to give back to the community by supporting effective organizations,” said Stephen Obermayer, President of BBL Hospitality. “As an Albany-based company, it’s an easy choice when the opportunity arises to support an organization that benefits our community and veterans in the Capital Region.”
The non-profit organization Soldier On has already served 500 New York and Massachusetts veterans and their families through a $1 million Supportive Services for Veteran Family (SSVF) grant. Soldier On provides transitional housing and support services to veterans that includes temporary financial assistance for rent, security deposits, moving costs, childcare, and emergency supplies. Soldier On also helps veterans obtain Veterans Administration benefits and transportation.
“The support and donation from BBL Hospitality will go a long way in easing the transition for veterans in the Capital Region and also to make sure these veterans have the best services and opportunities available to them,” said Soldier On Chief Executive Officer and President John Downing.
The furniture donated was made available by recent renovations of the Residence Inn in East Greenbush, done by BBL.
